The Best News EVER!!!!!

So this past weekend we have celebrated the most important holiday in Christianity. Good Friday-Ressurection Sunday, or Easter weekend is the celebration of Christ’s death, burial and ressurection. While I sincerely hope yall are all familar with those stories as found in the Gospels (see Rebecca’s previous post for references) I have some verses that have been on my mind this weekend I’d like to share with you.

Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his stripes we are healed.
-Isaiah 53:4-5 (ESV)

Think about that guys, the Son of GOD came down and bore OUR soorows! He took OUR punishment. Isn’t that absolutely amazing? As the song (and probably another translation of this verse) says, “by His wounds we are healed.” Christ healed us with His own blood. That is the best news EVER, but guess what, it gets BETTER!

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” -1 Corinthians 15:55 (ESV)

Jesus died on Good Friday, but He rose again on Ressurection Sunday! He conquered death. And now death holds no sting for believers, for we will die to be with Christ. Death has no victory because Jesus “Dansed through death’s arms  and over Hell’s gate and in three days dansed forth from His tomb.” (The Danse, by Cademon’s Call) So just some things to think about.

Ok, now I’m curious, what vereses or songs or thoughts etc. have stuck out to yall this weekend?

I just wanted to apologize for leaving y’all hanging on the series last week.  If you want to know what happens next, you can start reading in Matthew 26:36, Mark 14:32, Luke 22:39, or John 18:1. 😉  Hopefully I’ll be able to talk more about it sometime in the future.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebrating the resurrection of our Savior!  Our Savior is ALIVE!  Praise the Lord!
